E-commerce development and product configurators
Custom online stores for products that do not fit a standard template: configurable products, made-to-measure pricing, and checkout with Stripe and PayPal, all managed from your own admin panel.
When a standard store is not enough
Platforms like Shopify work well for simple products. They struggle when a product is built from options, priced by size, or made to measure. That is where a custom store earns its cost: the catalogue, pricing and checkout follow your products instead of the other way round.
Product configurators
On ESA Bed & Carpet I built a bed configurator where customers choose the size, base, headboard, fabric and colour, storage, assembly and delivery, with every option priced separately and the total updating as they choose.
Carpets are priced by width and height, and the same carpet can be listed at several sizes, so customers order exactly what they need instead of rounding up to a standard roll.
Checkout and orders you can trust
Checkout works for guests and registered customers, with Stripe and PayPal handling payment. The cart stores a snapshot of each item's options and prices at the moment it is added, so changing your prices later never alters an order a customer has already placed.
Running the store
The admin panel covers the whole catalogue: products, options and pricing, images, orders and their status, and sales figures, so day-to-day running never needs a developer.
Common questions
How much does a custom e-commerce website cost?
It depends mostly on how complex your products are. Simple fixed-price items cost far less than configurable or made-to-measure products, and the payment methods and admin features you need matter too. Tell me about your products and I will scope it.
Should I use Shopify or a custom build?
If your products are simple, Shopify is often the cheaper and better choice, and I will tell you so. A custom build makes sense when your products are configured, priced by measurement, or need workflows Shopify cannot handle without a stack of paid apps.
How long does a custom store take?
ESA Bed & Carpet, including the bed configurator, carpet pricing, checkout and admin panel, took about a month.
